PURPLE ANGEL MUSIC MP3s WORK IN HOSPITALS """ OFFICIAL !! """
To place PA Music MP3s on emergency wards Etc in hospitals without using Bespoke music/songs picked out especially for the person with dementia was a HUGE leap in the dark for us, it had never been done before in a hospital environment "Anywhere" as far as I know and to the best of my knowledge (Disclaimer) WE KNOW IT WORKS IN CARE HOMES and private homes but this was a such a different Project The 50 songs we used were chosen from 1,000s sent in by YOU WONDERFUL CARING PEOPLE and were split into two groups, 50years old to 70 years old, and 70 years old and over. It gives me the most incredible pleasure to announce today that last night I received written confirmation that they have been used a few times now since implementing them on certain wards and the results have been nothing short of amazing. Because of Privacy issues and data protection act I cannot show you the letter i received, but what I can say is people who are very distressed whilst admitted to hospital are benefitting from these devices in such a way its also an incredible help to the wonderful hard working nursing staff as well as those with dementia, and so deserved, I am sure you agree. I would IMPLORE, No, ACTUALLY , i would BEG people to contact their local hospitals and show them this, please share, copy and paste if the page won't allow and share again, so many can be helped this way and please ask them to contact me, they can start doing this in their own hospitals, and form very little cost, most hospitals have a league of friends attached to them so they can ask for funding as ours certainly isn't unlimited . And to ALL my wonderful friends who have supported us in this and sent the 1,000s of tunes in to help us get to this point so far so many people around the UK are so very grateful TO YOU !!! She is now looked after by her husband, and their family, along with care staff, who visit ” A ” at AM, and lunch. 20/09/2017 – Reported today from her husband and family ” A ” is communicating more, and eating drinking a little better, singing along with the music with care staff. Husband said she is also having solid food, Corn beef stew which was her favourite before the illness. The family said music is an icebreaker for new care staff, who are not familiar with ” A ” routine, gives confidence to both parties. SERVICE USER ” B ” 20/09/2017 Reported from ” Service User B ” Partner said ” B ” is more bright and singing along to the music, ” B ” suffered a head injury when she was a child, which affects her memory, and she can get really low, ” B ” will communicate, but not able to do much for herself. Partner said she likes listening and singing to Johnny Matthias, I can evidence this when I was with ” B ” there was a twinkle in her eyes and a big smile on her face when the music was playing, I feel this is a great comfort when nobody is around. ” B ” lives on her own. care staff visits twice a day, for personal care, in the morning and nutrient at lunchtime. but has family members visit throughout the day. Family members say they have seen a difference in ” B ” and feel the music is beneficial to her. Service user ” C ” 26/06/2017 Reported from Son said ” Service user C ” is more talkative, smiling when music is on, said ” C ” and is surprisingly sleeping more restfully… ” C ” been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Son said the music is good for himself and his mom both enjoy the music. care staff visits 3 times a day supporting with personal care, Nutrient, medication. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Another outstanding report from a care home in South Molton, Devon, Following support from your Purple Angel music team, we have been trialing the MP3 prompt / reminiscent music with a specific resident in our East Street home. The resident had been presenting with significant malaise for a very long period of time and was not responding to medication to lift mood or engagement with our team. His malaise presented with him choosing to remain in his bed for the entire day and night with little interest in food or personal hygiene; resulting in a slow debilitation for no reason other than this. When we were offered the opportunity of this trial I sat with the resident and his wife and used my online streaming account to access music. I assessed what music had a positive effect on the gent and this was then put forward to your team as the basis for the trial. Ashley Simms from your Purple Angel music team then kindly delivered a few CDs and an electronic format of the music to us. Once we commenced the trial there were results evident within 48 hours. We started playing the music for an hour prior to each meal with the resident exhibiting signs of interest in the music and the subliminally linked messages clearly were having an effect. He started to engage more with his meals and fluid intake and also showed interest in personal care, and after a week had started to get up without always requiring prompting. His acceptance of the music being played was variable and we had to encourage him to have it playing on occasions to keep the trial progressing. His wife was also very involved in the trial and saw a change in her husband also. These improvements continued and have now plateaued but with a marked improvement in social interaction, interest in following more socially ‘normal’ practices of dressing and sitting out during the day and most importantly an increase in food and fluid. We have been very impressed with the results of this trial and consider that anyone considering embarking on it themselves looks to source the right music and overlook any barriers they feel may present to allow it to take effect. Music is certainly good for the soul as we all know and this trial has shown that it can also be the vehicle for so much more! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hiya all, please read the following, cheers, Norrms Why PA music MP3s are a vital part or End of life Treatment as well as improving lives for those with dementia Imagine this …… You are in a room, you are at end of life stage, your frightened, alone and know that the end will be here soon. Someone has left a radio on for you and because people know you loved your music, Thing is, a radio plays all kinds of music and probably not the music you liked as its very random. If the radio is playing music you don’t like how upsetting would that be if that’s the last thing you hear? The MP3s can be tailored to play whatever music the person loved, track by track, even when you buy a CD of an artist you like, chances are there will be at least 1 or 2 you don’t like. The MP3 player can overcome this by playing the right tracks. So now IMAGINE This…………… You are in a room, alone, frightened and at the end of life stage, medical research states the last thing to diminish is your hearing before death, and as you drift away the last thing you will hear is your favourite music, music that evokes happy memories and cherished emotions , i know if i had my choice, this would be it. EXAMPLE I was chatting with a friend who runs a care home who told me about a person at end of life stage, we chatted about how music could help, and they told me the persons favourite music/songs were by Elvis Presley. A day later they played the persons favourite Elvis songs, and the person who had very little response opened their eyes ever so slightly, smiled, curled his lip up and said “Thank you very much ” There wasn’t a dry eye in the room, unfortunately, the person died shortly after, but just to know they had peace of mind and the pleasure of their favourite music right at the end id proof enough they work. Yes it’s true, they were first invented to help people function better, more food and liquid intake and be more sociable, and this has been proven to work so many times in the IN HOUSE trials we have done. Research by the Alzheimers Fisher research group in new york have found the receptor in the brain which receives the signals from music is never affected by dementia and that’s why when ever we hear a song, if we have dementia or not we can remember where we were, who we were with and what we were doing when the song came out. and its been proven that music improves well being, but like anything else, these things evolve and grow. So many can be helped by this device. We don’t want to charge people for this service and that’s why we need the funding so we can provide this for all, completely free. Please please share this with all you know, and if you want to know more, Know someone where you work who may benefit, or be involved in the trials, please contact [email protected] |
